"Grandmaster Nick Gracenin Workshops" - Allegheny Unitarian Church, 416 W. North Avenue, , PITTSBURGH PA 15212Grandmaster Nick Gracenin, one of the world's leading teachers and practitioners of the Internal Arts, will be visiting Still Mountain to teach a series of workshops on November 14th and 15th.

Friday Night, the 14th of November, at 7:00 PM, Grandmaster Gracenin will lead a workshop on The Secrets of Qigong.

Saturday Morning, the 15th of November, starting at 10:00 AM, Grandmaster Gracenin will teach a seminar on The Art of T'ai Chi Chuan.

Saturday Afternoon, on the 15th of November, starting at 2:00 PM, Grandmaster Gracenin will lead a workshop on The Energies of the T'ai Chi Sword.

All workshops are open to all levels of T'ai Chi practitioners, and the cost for each is $60, or $150 for all three.

Workshops will be held at the Allegheny Unitarian Church, at the corner of North Avenue and Rescaca Place, Pittsburgh.

10:00 A.M. Grandmaster Gracenin will teach the short 10 Movement T'ai Chi Form, a wonderful set based on the Yang family style. The workshop will be appropriate for everyone--regardless if you are true beginner or have learned an entire form. Master Gracenin is an amazing teacher from whom you will learn much about Tai Chi principles and movements. The cost for the workshop is $40.

11:30 A.M. Master Gracenin will lead a Baguazhang workshop. Again
the cost is $40, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The discounted price for both workshops is $70.

Master Gracenin will have DVDs available for sale. The DVD is wonderful and I recommend purchasing a copy for yourself to continue with your practice.

"Introduction to Buddhism Class: The Eight Fold Path" - Temple Emanuel 1250 Bower Hill Rd , Mt. Lebanon PA When Shakyamuni Buddha decided to teach the fundamental tenets of waking up,
he put forth the principle of the Four Noble Truths and the Eight Fold Path as the
fundamental principles. The Four Noble Truths delineates the basic philosophical
structure of Buddhist thought, but the Eight Fold Path outlines the tools of waking up.
In this four session class, we will explore the Four Noble Truths and the Eight Fold
Path as a way to both understand Buddhist philosophy as well as to enhance the
connection between practice and living.
No prior experience with meditation or Buddhism is required. Everyone is welcome
to attend, and the class will be taught in a friendly and open environment.

Chan Si Gong, or Silk-Reeling Exercises, found in the Chen style of Taijiquan consist of spiral move-ments combined with the internal flow of qi and the external motion of rotation. These exercises help to open the eight channels, improve the yin and yang balance of the body, and to smooth the flow of blood. They internally help the mind to lead the qi and externally help strengthen the body.

Lebanon PA 15228Created by the late Grandmaster Li Tianji to connect the sword skills of Taijiquan and Wudang Baguazhang, this routine is quite popular in China and has been promoted by his nephew Professor LiDeyin. The 42-form international competition routine is based on this choreography.
Here is an excellent opportunity for those fortunate to have studied previously, and a challenging yet fun introduction for those new to this choreography. Many of the skills taught in the sword energies workshop are included in the set, so newcomers can take away quite a bit.

"Energizing Health: Traditional Chinese Medicine, T'ai Chi, and Chi Kung." - Magovern Auditorium, Allegheny General Hospital. "Energizing Health" will introduce the fundamental theories of traditional Chinese medicine such as Chi, Shen, and Jing, and discuss how T'ai Chi and Chi Kung, two "soft" martial arts, evolved in response to those theories. The talk will include demonstrations of exercises that have been taught in China for over 2000 years. In addition, the talk will cover some basics of T'ai Chi and Chi Kung, which are meditative exercises that incorporate slow, gentle movements with deep breathing in order to strengthen and heal the body, generate greater vitality and energy, and provide emotional and psychological relaxation.
